For me this movie is one of the best movies released in year 1956. I will grant that my expectations were very low before watching Gervaise. Nowadays, fresh movies entering the cinemas, do not have 'something' what this movie got. Anyway, Drama may boast of one of the biggest numbers of good movies. Even in the biggest and best Hollywood productions, there is the element of commercialism, that is elements that are in the film only to win favor with the mass audience.
